About

Meredith Serneels

I’m an Asheville-based artist and former teacher inspired by the energy of Kandinsky, Miro, and Kindah Khalidy. I’ve always been drawn to bold colors and organic, abstract shapes—there’s something special about the way color can shift a mood, spark joy, and create connection.

During my years as a teacher, especially through the uncertainty of the pandemic, I turned to art to bring light into my world and share that same joy with others. What started as an exploration of bright, expressive forms quickly became a passion, a way to translate happiness onto canvas. I primarily work with acrylics, though I also enjoy creating digitally, always chasing that perfect balance of whimsy and vibrancy.

For me, painting isn’t just about creating—it’s about sharing energy, lifting spirits, and making the world a little brighter, one color at a time.

When Hurricane Helene devasted WNC, 300+ artists lost their studios, works, and primary source of income. One of these artists sought to create the Asheville Artists Flood Collection, which includes a card deck and coffee table book honoring original artwork that was lost. All proceeds, minus operating costs, will be split evenly between 54 participating artists.  Check out the video below for more information and purchase your deck and/or book at the link provided.
